Course Description

This City & Guilds Level 2 industry recognised bricklaying qualification is specifically designed for beginners. The course encompasses the knowledge & skills required to work as a bricklayer or set up your own business.
 
The course will also grant you the technical skill & knowledge needed to further apply for a NVQ Level 2, and then for a blue CSCS card to work on site as a full time bricklayer. 

 This course is a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification and is benchmarked at the same level as a GCSE A-C grade. This course is delivered via our blended learning model of delivery. The practical training will be completed in two-week blocks that can be booked throughout the year to give you as much flexibility as possible. The theoretical study will be accessed via our on-line learning portal. Our delivery has been designed this way to reduce travel costs for candidates and minimize time spent away from work and family life and to provide a truly inclusive training package.   With us, it can also be completed in two week blocks that can be booked throughout the year to give you as much flexibility as possible.  

Our bricklaying courses have a maximum of 10 students at a time, so that each student gets enough guidance and tuition from our tutors, ensuring you pass the course with all of the required knowledge and understanding, as it allows you to ask questions and get plenty of one-to-one instruction.  

As training providers, the most important thing for us is that, by the end of the course, we will have built your confidence to start working and completing your own projects. Course Content

Schedule & Duration:

  • 4 weeks Monday – Friday (9:00am – 4:00pm, breaks included)
  • 10 Weekends spread throughout the year around your commitments (8:30am – 4pm, breaks included)

This course will include an online learning portal where you will complete and do all your theory learning, you will spend 4 weeks at our centre completing all practical learning and assessments. The course will be completed in 2x two week blocks. The dates for the blocks can be booked throughout the year to give you as much flexibility as possible. If you are completing the course at the weekends, this will be 10 weekends spread throughout the year around your commitments. Equipment & Facilities

We provide you with your own work area & equipment (gear & tools included except safety boots which you need, can bring your own tools if preferred)

You will have access to:

We are located in CV7 9NH, just off the M6 motorway and close to several food places and hotels nearby.

Diploma & Assessments

To achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying (6705-23), learners must complete the following units: 201, 202, 204, 205 and 206.

Units 201 and 202 are theory-based units, and will take approximately two weeks of study time (with extra time allocated for home study and exam preparation). These two units are a fundamental part of this qualification, and must be completed and passed prior to certification.  Units 201 and 202 are assessed by an online exam set by City & Guilds.  

*Units 201 and 202 are also completed for our Level 2 Plastering Course, and do not have to be redone if you wish to pursue that as well with us.

All Units are assessed against the City & Guilds criteria, and proceed as follows: 

  • 3 practical exams
  • 5 theory exams completed online in our IT suite => these exams are externally graded against the City & Guild criteria. All exams are multi-choice, with one question and four possible answers provided. We have mock paper tests available to students, and these are taken and the answers discussed before students take the actual exam 

You will be expected to spend approximately 2 hours per week doing home study in order to complete your portfolio that allows you to meet the City & Guilds guided learning hours for this qualification. While not mandatory, we also recommend that you purchase the City & Guilds Level 2 Bricklaying book (click HERE to see which one), as it is designed to deliver the knowledge required for this Level 2 course.

All of the above modules will be carried out at our purpose built dedicated training centre where we have various simulated training bays for you to carry out your practical assignments and our own computer suite linked to City and Guilds for you to take all of your online tests.

What comes after?

Upon completion, this City & Guilds Level 2 industry recognised course will grant you an extremely wide and complete understanding of the skills and knowledge required on how to start working as a bricklayer, as the course is specifically designed for students with little to no experience.  Most students leave this course and go on site to get experience working alongside a team of bricklayers and gain site experience.  In order to do this you must get a CSCS card, you will start off with a green card and need to then gain site experience and pass your NVQ2 before applying for a blue card.

To obtain a CSCS card, you must pass the Health & Safety CSCS test. Check out our 1 Day Site Safety Course (CSCS Test incl.).
