 This EAL Level 2 industry recognised Electrical qualification is specifically designed for beginners. The course is designed for people with no experience whatsoever, as it contains a blended mix of practical application & theoretical knowledge, and is comprised of five entertaining & intellectually stimulating modules. This course’s completion can mark the start of a flourishing career in a fascinating field, as it is the first milestone on the career ladder to becoming a Gold card holder under the JIB scheme. 
 
Once you have registered for your course and paid your deposit, you will then be given access to our virtual learning platform (SmartScreen) within 48 hours. Following this an invoice will be generated for you. 

The initial date you book online will be for your practical module. This course can be completed in two week blocks. The dates for the blocks can be booked throughout the year to give you as much flexibility as possible.

What do we offer?

Our course is an EAL Level 2 qualification and is benchmarked at the same level as a GCSE A-C grade. The course is approximately 50% classroom-based and 50% practical, and also includes a certain amount of home study that takes approximately four hours per week.

The course has a maximum of 12 students at a time, so that each student gets enough guidance & tuition from our tutors and passes the course with all of the required knowledge and understanding. It also allows students to ask all of the questions they may have and to get plenty of one-to-one instruction.

This course is the first step to become a qualified electrician, more specifically a Gold card holder under the JIB scheme. The course covers basics such as: fitting a back box, using a drill & raw plugs through to fitting simple lighting circuits, ring final circuits and consumer units.

This qualification also allows you to work on building sites, as well as domestic, commercial and industrial settings as an improver/electrician’s mate, and further allows you to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma before becoming a fully qualified electrician. Assessments

All Units are assessed against the official City & Guilds criteria, and proceed as follows:

  • 3 weeks of structured practical activities learning various styles of containment and installation with assessments at the end of each task.
  • 50 minute online exam consisting of 30 questions on the procedures and requirements of electrical installation methods.
  • 5 practical ‘Health and Safety’ tasks and a 75 minute online exam consisting of 45 questions.
  • 70 minute ‘Electrical Science and Principles’ online exam consisting of 40 questions. and practical assessment on the fundamentals of mechanics
  • 75 minute ‘Electrical Installations Technology’ online exam consisting of 45 questions.


All of the above modules and assessments will be carried out here at our purpose-built, dedicated training centre where we have various simulated training bays for you to carry out your practical assignments and our own computer suite linked to City and Guilds for you to pass all of your online tests.

Unit ELEC2/04 exam is an open-book assessment in which you are allowed the On-Site Guide and a non programmable scientific calculator is required for all exams and assessments.
