Qualification and Assessment

The qualification comprises knowledge/understanding and performance units covering the installation of small-scale solar photovoltaic systems.

  • Assessment normally includes:
  • An EAL on-screen knowledge examination
  • Practical assessment of installation and related activities
  • Inspection, testing, commissioning and documentation tasks
  • Assessor questioning or supplementary evidence where required

Candidates must successfully complete the required knowledge and practical assessments. The qualification is graded pass or fail.

Entry Requirements

This award is intended for practising electricians with established core technical competence. Before Registration, learners must normally provide evidence of an accepted electrotechnical qualification or an appropriate current ECS Gold Card.

Suitable evidence may include a qualification underpinning core technical competence for electrical work in dwellings or general electrical installation work, as identified in the current EAS Qualifications Guide, or a current ECS Gold Card as a Domestic Electrician, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician.

Learners should be conversant with the current edition of BS 7671 and have appropriate inspection and testing knowledge and experience. CBWA will complete an eligibility check before booking is confirmed.
