This builds on from constructing a stud wall in the previous session, and provides you with the skills to make wholesale changes to the layout of a property

This is a typical task that once learnt, can easily be replicated around your home or for paying customers

A great skill to learn, as fitting skirting boards neatly can really lift a room and ensure a professional finish

This aspect of the course is moving into the realms of refurbishment, and will noticeably enhance your skill base

Detailed Itinerary

1. You will start off by learning how to build a carpenter’s work horse. This will teach you many of the carpentry skills that you will put into practice whilst completing your training with us. You will also be able to use the workhorse throughout your training with us, and you can take it home with you at the end of the course and use it on jobs for years to come

2. Your tutor will then demonstrate how to build a stud wall with a door opening. You will complete this task and it will form the basis for the next stage of training, which is to learn how to assemble and fit your door frame

3. Your tutor will show you how to use the hammer and chisel to successfully fit doors. You will be given lots of time to practice this skill, and once you have mastered this tricky task you will fit your hinges on your door & frame

4. Once the door is in situ, you will be shown how to make any necessary adjustments by using a carpenter plane. When this is completed, and you have successfully hung your door, you will then move onto fitting your door furniture. This will once again be demonstrated, and you will practice this process until mastered and are able to do it yourself, on your own doors.

5. Moreover, as part of the previous job, you will also fit an architrave around your door frame to finish the job off and produce a truly professional look

6. Once that is completed, you will move onto other common carpentry tasks, such as fitting skirting boards around internal & external angles
