What Do We Cover?

This qualification forms part of the requirements for the electrotechnical experienced worker assessment, together with the AM2E end point assessment (outside this qualification.) This then enables the experienced workers to apply for their ECS Installation Electrician Gold Card widening their career path.

The qualification is made up of performance units, which in summary cover the Health & Safety and Environmental application, the application of design and installation practices, organising the work environment and the termination and connection of conductors inspection and testing, followed by fault diagnosis and rectification.

This course also includes 2 units which cover the BS7671 Wiring Regulations and the Initial Verification which are the same units that are in the industry recognised CPD qualifications.

Schedule & Duration:

2 - 18 Months

This is a work based portfolio of evidence on the performance based units, learners complete this at their own pace as and where evidence can be gathered towards the performance unit. Performance based content will be 1 week of assessments and online tests.

Although the majority of the time the course is going to submitting portfolio evidence remotely when you do attend the center for practical assessments and online exams, there will be the following facilities available.

Course Description

Entry Requirements:

For the EAL Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification you MUST be a practicing electrician for a minimum of 5 years in the industry as this is NOT suitable for new entrants/apprentices.

It is a requirement that prior to undertaking this qualification, learners must have their suitability assessed by the completion of the qualifications pre-entry TESP skills can. Learners must also require the knowledge and understanding comparable to the Level 3 Electrotechnical apprenticeship qualification which can be evidenced by electrotechnical qualifications. Where learners do not hold the relevant qualifications there eligibility will be probed through the skills scan to verify if they have the equivalent knowledge and understanding. All of this MUST be obtained prior to the learner being registered on this qualification.

It is also a requirement that all learners must have obtained at least a minimum of their Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations.

The age range of this qualification is 19+ however, it is expected due to the 5 year industry requirements that learners will be significantly older.
