Course description

This qualification is designed to allow students to gain all of the knowledge needed to work on domestic, commercial and industrial settings as a fully qualified electrician. The qualification is for students that have already completed & passed the EAL Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations – (600/6724/X), and are currently looking to make the next step towards becoming a Gold card holder under the JIB scheme.

Course Content

LEARNING OUTCOMES - This unit enables learners to gain the knowledge needed by a learner to underpin the application of skills and working practices appropriate to relevant legislation and systems.

LEARNING OUTCOMES - This unit provides learners an opportunity to acquire an understanding of electrical design and preparation together with how regulations and requirements affect the planned electrical installation. It provides facility for assessment of learning relating to electrical installation planning, preparing and design.

LEARNING OUTCOMES - This unit provides learners an opportunity to develop their practical skills relevant to electrical installation work. It covers preparation, installation and verification. It aims to promote the health and safety of the learner carrying out these electrical craft skills. It also provides a facility of learning and assessment of electrical installation craft skills in complex systems

Schedule & Duration:

  • Eight weeks Monday – Friday (9:00am – 4:30pm, breaks included)
  • Option for Evening course => lasts 40 weeks, 3 hours on both Tuesday and Thursday (6 hours in total per week, 6:00pm – 9:00pm)

Equipment & Facilities

We provide you with your own training bays & equipment (can bring your own tools & equipment if preferred, e.g. your own calibrated multifunction tester)

You will have access to:

  • On-site vending machines

We are located in CV7 9NH, just off the M6 motorway and close to several food places and hotels nearby.

To achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation (2365-03), learners must complete the following units: 201, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305 and 308

What do we offer?

The course is approximately 50% classroom-based and 50% practical, and also includes a certain amount of home study that takes approximately four hours per week.

The course has a maximum of 12 students at a time, so that each student gets enough guidance & tuition from our tutors and passes the course with all of the required knowledge and understanding. It also allows students to ask all of the questions they may have and to get plenty of one-to-one instruction.

This course is the final diploma to become a qualified electrician, more specifically a Gold card holder under the JIB scheme. After successful completion of this course, since students often need to gain employment experience or even start working in the industry for themselves (for which we recommend our full Gold Electrical Training Course package), and then complete the AM2 and NVQ level 3 before applying for their JIB Gold card.

If you are looking to work in the electrics industry as a Domestic Installer, it is still MANDATORY for you to complete 18th Edition (2382) and Periodic Inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations (2391 – 52), both of which are provided by us through City & Guilds, either separately or as part of our full Gold Electrical Training Course package.

Assessment

 All Units are assessed against the City & Guilds criteria, and proceed as follows:

  • 1. 45 minute ‘Environmental Technology Systems’ online exam
  • 2. 2 hour written assignment on the ‘Principles of Electrical Science’ and 45 minute practical activity
  • 3. 60 minute ‘Fault Diagnosis and Rectification’ online exam and a 3 hour practical assessment
  • 4. 80 minute ‘Inspection, Testing and Commissioning’ online exam, 120 minute written assignment and a 3 hour practical assessment
  • 5. 70 minute ‘Electrical Systems design’ online exam and approximately 20 hours project
  • 6. 90 minute ‘Career Awareness in Building Services Engineering’ short question paper and written assessments

All of the above modules and assessments will be carried out here at our purpose-built, dedicated training centre where we have various simulated training bays for you to carry out your practical assignments and our own computer suite linked to City and Guilds for you to pass all of your online tests.
